There used to be a little graveyard in, I think, Sistiana, that I'd visit periodically in my early SL days perhaps because I was in the middle of what seemed an endless die-off of family and friends. There was one in Taber, too, I recall. Yesterday I read in a post about Ginny Talamasca someone's suggestion that a graveyard or memorial park for avatars would be a good thing, even if small, and I agree.
Meltsinyourmouth Steed, Savi Sieyes, Jesse Malthus, Feliciaa Feaver, Ginny Talamasca - and how many more? Many, many, I'm sure.

I've come across several graveyards in Caledon - not weird creepy ones, nice ones...they'd be perfect for that idea. Parks & Rec could work it out - a way to keep land out of development, as in this Other life. Or also, as IRL, just memorial parks - like P&R already has with hiking trails etc - and with a memorial stone here and there. Lucy
I went to a large cemetery in SL too - one for RL and SL people. again, it wasn't a depressing place, more a reflective one. I'll look for the LM.
We avatars are an ephemeral lot ... just as our physical selves are.
As one who believes in cremation I think of myself as not being a big fan of gravesites and memorials, but still, I really love the cairn that Salazar built in memory of my RL son Steve. I visit it and put objects there from time to time. It is soothing and restful.
There is something satisfying about remembering those who have left us behind here.

I've always liked reading obituaries, not because I am morbid but becaue they are concise records of people's lives. People are very interesting, and I don't need to've known them to find their lives fascinating.
I think, too, that I'd like to be remembered after I'm gone. I'm with you, though - cremation is the way in rl although in SL there can only be memorial parks even if some appear graveyard-ish.
There must be many more than four - I can only think of four, though.
