Tiff just rang - she had 11 inches of snow then 10 inches of rain and her son's drive washed away* so he, Cathy, and the baby are stranded. The two roads leading to their house are closed, too. Of course, this is bad because it means Tiff can't get to her grandson :-D

She said Route 8 (my road) and the 101 are both closed. I expect 8 is closed further towards the coast due to mudslides and the 101 due to Skokomish River flooding (usual - every winter the area north of the Skok is cut off for varying periods of time). The Skok is predicted to have its greatest flooding ever.

UPDATE: Uh... well, I was wrong - 8 is closed between me and Olympia, as I discovered while trying to get to jin shin. The roads are fir-lined and under water in places. Methinks I'll just stay home today.

UPDATE 2: My power went off at about 2:30 and just came back on at 7 pm - mondo drag. I strained my eyes reading The Looming Tower by candlelight. I HATE cheap candles :-(

*It washed away because the next door land was CLEARCUT.
