Quick Light Test
Just a very quick test showing how the shadow viewer shows all available lights as opposed to the limited lights of the rc viewer. Same lights in each part, gamma was low for each but not the same probably (I didn't note it, bad Os). Would be better with a white wall and exactly matched gamma, but I was sloppy and quick and it's easy to see the difference anyway. Lighting FTW yet lack of AA is teh debbil on the SD.

Thank you, Os. Lack of anti-aliasing will be a pain, I agree. How much control have we over the camera? Can it be programmatically controlled? If so, we might run two identical passes with and w/o shadows and multiply the result in AfterEffects or Premiere. That would give some control over gamma, too. I have to see if I can find any of Dr. Fluxus' scripts - most were left in prims laying about my lost land.
I hear the next point release RC will have shadows AND antialiasing, but dunno when that'll be nor if the lighting will remain the same. AA + shadows is a whopping fps hit. Even shadows + filming would send most computers into a stutter. If you look at the machinima "Losin' It" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUkg49R2q8s I filmed that with the shadow client in HD resolution (you've the choice of HD in yootoob). I use a Space Navigator but my experience with shadows is it's best not to move around too terribly much. I don't have the option atm to send the picture to a capture device.
I think the latter is the safest, we can burn shadows into the textures. But it may have to wait until I return from China, after all. Work is piling up quickly, and I have a lot to prepare.
