When all of its beams are fully operational, NIF will focus nearly two million joules of ultraviolet laser energy on a tiny target in the center of its target chamber – creating conditions similar to those that exist only in the cores of stars and giant planets and inside a nuclear weapon. The resulting fusion reaction will release many times more energy than the laser energy required to initiate the reaction."

Thanks, Enj - that company is rather interesting (Teijin Ltd).

I've seen that car before but it's hopelessly retro - not nearly as kewl as Avro's flying car fifty years ago. Actually what I'd really like is a hovercar - prototyped successfully in the fifties in England. When we all drive hovercars the roads can turn into nice greenswards. Pesky fuel consumption problems must be solved!
