Free Running

If you are in the mood for fast chases you can't go wrong with District B13, a French film from 2004 that's set far in the future (2010 heh). There's a plot, but what is most fun is the free running that takes up about 97% of the film.

Update for Ed: David Belle is the "inventor" of a type of urban jumping called Le Parkour - and what he does is more or less what he does in the movie. It's about thinking/moving at top speed using whatever is there - which might be an opening, a rope, a ledge - to improvise a route.

Woot!

Good thing about that rope just happening to hang there! When I do this sort of thing, seldom are ropes that convenient.

Threre's a trick to it, Ed. You have to be in a movie ;-D On the other hand the free running ordinary people do is just about as amazing.

I wonder if the game "Mirror's edge" was inspired by this movie

I dunno, but I think they are both just a result of the popularity of the real life phenomenon.

ok so i watched teh moovie and the initial chase is good (it's what you see in the trailer on youtube) but the free running more or less stops after that, sans some quick scenes towards the end.

I didn't mean to exaggerate - that's just how it felt to me. Did you like it at all?

The silent film "Beloved Rogue" keeps popping up in my head - I haven't seen it for decades but I seem to remember rooftop scampering.

I want to ask for thoughts about improving the world -- what do people need? How can things be organised?
