It is always exciting to see a new architectural form ... this one gleams so beautifully! I am trying to make out why the windows give such a variety of light reflection. Are they simply different colors and sizes, or are there differences in their angles relative to the plane on which they lie?
Well it isn't exactly new, but I surfed across a picture of it and was smitten for some reason. The facade is plain glass in different shapes and sizes, and the inside is like being inside a Mondrian. There are more interesting shapes out there, but this is just an apartment block, so is restrained.
It was new to me ... I went to the site:
http://www.nouvelchelsea.com/about.php
and found this blurb:
"The building's gently curving curtain wall of different sized panes of colorless glass - each set in a unique angle and torque ..."
Isn't that wonderful? A lot of meticulous planning and work went into creating this dazzling piece of architecture. Thanks for pointing it out to us architectural philistines! *note to self: look at Architectural Digest now and then*
