I would reckon building a virtual world is a difficult way to earn money. Most people don't want to spend years and millions of dollars developing a highly complex program with incredibly difficult and ever-changing problems in every facet from legalities to implimentation, that requires constant change and improvement, and interfaces, as well, with people who have time and energy and passion focused on why what they want is not immediately forthcoming.
