Nigerian Massacre Report
Hundreds of nomadic Fulani herdsmen launched coordinated attacks on three Christian villages -- Dogo Nahawa, Ratsat and Zot, just south of Jos -- about 3 a.m. Sunday.
The killers planted nets and animal traps outside the huts of the villagers, mainly peasant farmers, fired weapons in the air, then attacked with machetes, according to human rights lawyer Shehu Sani of the nongovernment Civil Rights Congress, who visited the villages and interviewed dozens of survivors.
"People came out of their houses and started falling into the animal traps and mosquito nets and then they were hacked down," he said. "They were the kind of traps used for wild animals."

this is incomprehensible. it is within human behavior to do this, mirror neurons be damned. try to imagine a situation in which this would seem like a good idea...and you know, i almost can; just remember to never forget the milgram experiments.

I don't see any similarity to the Milgram experiments. It's more like one group (and this is what humans do over and over again) fail to regard members of another group as having any value at all. That may have been a key survival trait eons ago but has to change, or our shortcomings will lead to our demise. It's shocking to read about it on a small scale; writ large it means nuclear bombs wiping out someone's enemy.
