I know - I fight that myself because ultimately I love SL and I don't want to do anything that might harm it. This makes me think the only reason to do this would be if the "deciders" were paring off everything because things are worse than previously thought and it's necessary to cut further in order to merely survive.
I don't know; all I know is that once you lose people of this calibre there's no replacing them. We were lucky to have Qarl and now he's gone. I feel sick.
