I've been in lots of snowstorms. I used to live in Canada. I'm quite familiar with all aspects of snow.
Except one.
I've never seen lightning in a snowstorm.

i've seen it a number of times...could be an east coast thing. when i was a kid we got some new neighbors who came from the northwest where'd they'd had volcanos and earthquakes etc - she was terrified of thunderstorms! had seldom experienced such a thing.

believe it or not, Wikipedia 'splains all this! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thundersnow
They (?) say you can't hear the thunder for very far - which i never thot of at the time, but that must be what makes it so eerie.
