Why I Live Here
I was making coffee this morning and the clouds parted, revealing this scene.

Three questions for Mister Jack, SIR!
1. why are movies of the future so BLEAK and TERRIFYING?
2. Why does the black dude always die first? AND IT IS ANDRE BRAUGHER (a great actor in my opinion)!
3. Why do we think insects and arthropods could EVER get that large (exoskeletons have a built-in limit on size)?

1. The future is unknown and uncertainty is inherently more terrifying than comforting.
2. Yeah, that sucks. (And I agree, he is a very good actor.) He was certainly one of the braver ones. Like the woman who wanted to walk home from the store in the mist to get her children. No one wanted to go with her, so she went alone.
3) These are supposedly creatures from another dimension, perhaps they have internal skeletons as well and/or their exo's are formed from a much lighter more durable substance than anything native to Earth? Prehistoric Earth insects were larger and Wikipedia has this say about them...
“The differences between modern and prehistoric varieties can be essential, and, like many other creatures of prehistory, the latter tended to be much larger than their contemporary equivalents. This size difference is thought to be due to higher atmospheric oxygen levels (allowing diffusion through spiracles over greater distances) and higher temperatures (enhancing metabolism).”
