Undead Alert
The NYer had an article about AOL's new strategy and leader, which talked about its journalistic aspirations. Now it's absorbed the Huffington Post ===:O
Ugh, I hate AOL - why can't it and Yahoo just lie down and die already.

heh, I agree. I never used AOL but it always struck me as lame - sort of like listening to corporate approved rock or hip-hop.
I have fond memories of Yahoo, but from 10 years ago. They got me from out under Hotmail's clumsy hold and I'll always thank them for that. Their group system was, at one time, brilliant and I ran a play by email game with them for three years, but all good things come to an end and Google just slowly slowly stole heart heart away. Now I find myself wishing that Google had bought Flickr so that all my most useful stuff was under one account rather than spread between Google & Yahoo.
Just don't get me started on how wonderful Wordpress is compared to Blogger ;-)

Gawd I hate Wordpress, but then this template is so hoary everything is laid bare under the hood - what I hate about WP is that all the stuffings are titivated up into little widget units. Maybe blogger is the same for new templates.
In the article it quoted an AOL employee as saying the dirty secret is that about 75% of their subscribers are just so un-net-savvy that they don't understand they don't need to pay $25/month to AOL as well as pay their ISP. Evil.
