aww dat's nice! a sort of giant fred rogers <3 <3
for some reason he looks familiar.

He was very comforting. I watched it in the fifties. I also remember a radio show with the Teddy Bear's Picnic as the theme song. People would arrange beforehand then it would broadcast things like, 'Billy, it's your birthday today! Look behind the washing machine and you may find something!' My 'rents never did that but I was goggle-eyed expecting it.

In England we has Bill and Ben, our esp. faves, and Muffin the Mule. I was never into children's television much in the USA except to mock: I remember Gene London and also Sally Starr. Philadelphia had strange local sdhows in general. We were fascinated by Larry Ferrari, who was Tiny Tim's doppelganger and played his huge organ.

Oh, great to hear of another Friendly Giant fan! I was fascinated by the whole deal and always looked forward to when it was on. The whole contrast of the scale between the giant and the chairs he would set out for us, the Watchers. A rather unique experience for those of us who watched. And that Gerome was snarky before we knew what snark meant!

I always watched curled up in that rocking chair for those who love to rock.

I want to ask for thoughts about improving the world -- what do people need? How can things be organised?
