Other People Are Strange
Years ago I painted a portrait of a friend who was a stone-sculptor. Another friend liked hanging some of my paintings in her house and helped me store some of my bazillion canvases. She actually painted her dining room to make it look in keeping with the aforementioned portrait. My stonecarver friend asked me if she could buy it. I wanted to trade for a custom-made memorial statue - I had whacky and groovy ideas - but she was weirded out and wouldn't do it although I explained that I wouldn't be needing it immediately or anything. Meanwhile my other friend wouldn't give up the painting, even though the person wanting it was the sitter.
I'm still bummed that I didn't get a custom-made whacky marble memorial statue.
