mudpie, Steam is a centralised gaming software distribution platform that has all kinds of games from Dear Esther to Portal to Skyrim. Steam comes from Valve, a Bellevue, Wa. game company helmed by the semi-legendary Gabe Newall. Bethesda, Rockstar, EA, and other game companies use Steam.
