I went to Al Raqis to take background pictures and had no sooner arrived than I was embroiled in furious role-play for what seemed like ages. It was fun except I was just making things up on the fly and needed to be getting my snaps. Obviously role players are just starved for action.Labels: Combat Cards

Reskinning a Combat Cards series for Splintered RockThese are possibles from pictures taken today. It's a role play area, so to me the important thing is to depict the role players.
Will these make the cut? Dunno.
My electricity went out suddenly as I was working on one - annoying. It was pitch black and I navigated by means of the screen on my video camera :-D I could hear the house denizens - always amazes me that people think they have to ring up the power company and hassle then (if that's what they were doing). It was out for ~ an hour. I have two rules. One is non-negotiable: Don't set the house on fire (requires care when you are me). The other is an aspiration: Don't fall down. The first is sometimes at odds with the second (i.e. blow out the candle then attempt to reach the bed without coming a cropper).

Doc has a lot of videos from the release event on Sunday, with his fab commentary. Here's the final, but he has nine fights including Os versus Mich in the Demo Tournament.

The release event was fun. I had the man call during my second fight then arrive to fix my water and then come in to talk to me twice, leaving muddy footprints on the carpet - however by the end of the event I had water! w00t! Somewhat unexpected as he thought the diver's pipe cutting had allowed something to go up and clog the pipe - speculation.
Mich won!

Doc Comes Clean
Doc has revealed himself on his blog as the former Babbage Linden (yes, I knew, actually a long time before he says in that post). Right now we are screamingly busy trying to get things set for Sunday's Robot Series release - we are getting close! Join us for the event at 2pm - beware the Clocks as they change in some parts of the world that day.
As well as 18 beta robot cards (come and build a free deck) Doc has made three diabolical Linden zombie cards that are oh, so risky but pay off in lots of regeneration if things go your way (actually come to think of it since they only kick in when you have fewer than 10 health points they aren't so risky - but giving up a card space in your deck is, a bit).
Hamlet's article is HERE.

Tournament Time!Demo and Custom tournaments will be held Saturday, 24 April, at the Space Ferret Dome in Raglan Shire! Anyone is welcome to sign up and fight on the day - tournament boards courtesy of Kat Burger are in place for demo and custon divisions. We have just changed version - we are now 2.2, so every fighter needs to use a 2.2 version Demo or Tiny Demo, or a 2.2 Deck or 2.2 Tiny Deck. If you have a custom deck change the cards like this:
Rez the old deck and the new 2.2 empty deck.
Touch the old deck and approve the transfer.
Take the new 2.2 deck into inventory - now full of cards.

Big, Huge, Jumbo, Massive
Doc and I have been slogging away on a massive Combat Cards update. We are close enough to set a date, but there remains a ton of work to be done. I spent ages cleaning up my inventory today as it had become a black hole of bazillions of decks, scripts, and arenas all jumbled up with nothing to tell the brilliant newest from the hopelessly borked of five minutes ago. I'm not in very good form right now for keeping track of things, especially when I can't tell them apart.
I also have had to shift cards around from deck to deck (whatever was currently being tested and/or Tiny then back to .6 for events), so it's all just a heap at the moment. Generally if I can spend ten minutes making a deck it plays ok, but mostly I just chuck a handful into a deck and go, as I'm not really trying to win anyway.
