Off to the Circus
Enj, Salazar, and I spent the day at the circus in New Babbage. It was a good show, but I'd'vew liked it compacted as I was there (not to mention the hour+ waiting) two hours and only left when I crashed for the fifth or more time and was too tired to go back. It had shown no signs of nearing its end, and I'd just been lagged out. Lag is exhausting. I was reminded of the post-mono paralysing lagspikes of our latter TSMGO experiences.
New Babbage is looking great! I have a few photos 'though snapshottery frequently equaled crashification tout de suite.
Acts I can recall are fire dancers, weight lifter, Elephant Man, tight-rope ape, dancers, dancing boy.

UpStage is a web-based venue for online performance. Online audiences anywhere in the world participate in live performance events by going to a webpage, without having to download and install any additional software. The 11:11:11 UpStage Festival is the 5th annual festival of cyberformance in UpStage, with a wide range and variety of performances.
Join me for the opening at 1:45 SLT on Thursday, 10 November and as many performances as you'd like to watch. Opinions and comments welcome!

I finally managed to attend an Upstage performance - MassMess from Serbia - thank to periodic reminders by Francesco in Italy. There was an audience at the gallery in Belgrade as well as a small online audience from points around the globe. The piece had to do with corporations, climate, and revolution, and ended with everything being sucked down the plughole - which was roundly applauded as (paraphrased audience comment): Everything is better without humans.
I was involved as I'd helped Francesco by giving him a lot of TSMGO! information for his thesis on cyber theatre.

Komuso on Saturday, experimenting with shared media.
Update: He adds on yootoob:
If we don't live test prototypes or tech ideas we a. don't find out what may work and b. miss out on the happy accident of screwing around with shit to see what happens and where it may lead;-)
This video test (a smaller moulded cyborg attachment would be better) has given me the best "feel" so far in terms of adding an extra element to the audience/performer feedback loop with video.

Lucy told HBA, and HBA told me - and I'd thought Metropolis was finished so was happy to tag along with the burro to see it on the 16th. I'm always restive if something grabs my camera (might as well watch television), but I wanted to see it as they envisioned it, so persevered.
The sets were nicely done, the scripting seemed low-lag, and the continuity unbroken. The performances were good, and the entire production was impressive indeed for Second Life theatre. I would've preferred something original, especially with audio, but this was an ambitious undertaking that was realised with a high degree of polish.
One of our TSMGO! troupe members, Karuna Sand, is the step-son of the original writer of Metropolis.

My lone snapshot taken today is not very good - too bad, however we had two shows and both went extremely well and were enjoyed to the max by the audience. Kudos to my performers who gave their all!Labels: Live Performance, TSMGO

"fat man with the baby!! you rules too"
Finally we had two good shows in a row, despite a plethora of last-minute and mid-show crises. The bow of the theatre was accidentally deleted, and though that's of almost no consequence in itself I wanted to mention it for this reason: after the show I donned my 1.23 RC viewer and hit "Return to Last Location" and boom, it was restored. I'd fiddled to get it nearly in the right spot when it happened as I was in the standard viewer, but this was fast and precise. Yay for 1.23!
Enjah was quite a trouper as she had to fill in for Lucy, who popped during a thunderstorm. Lucy got back in and did Preggers out of sequence, which was good. We did two shows back-to-back, with audience limits (not that we needed it since we weren't swamped).

Sitting on Freud's couch...I am working on a video of Second Front's Therapy. Shown above is a rehearsal - from left Os, Bibbe, Fau, Liz. I filmed the performance and now I'm editing, but I spent about four hours on the first 18 seconds, so what I expect is that once I get the beginning right it will be a breeze doing the rest.
