Virtual Dreaming
The original virtual reality is our dreamscape, although that is not usually controllable. We spend all this time making screen and computers to create a little world, and then we absorb that world and it appears in our dreams. How odd that is.
Why is there not a world or game that is a simulated dream? Choose elements, then things happen in a way that isn't a logical or controllable; give up control and see what happens.
Why is there not a system for virtual reality that uses the brain's ability to create and inhabit worlds? Since the eyes are part of the brain and we humans create monitors to show our little worlds to our eyes, why can't be bypass some of that confusion? At least VR goggles would be closer. It seems wasteful as it is now.

definitely requires more contemplation but right off i'd say dreams are USUALLY just YOUR brain alone. imagine a virtual reality that mixed people into one another's dreams...or is that Real Life?

Yes, I know - I was wondering why we make things to "see" virtually when we have that capability already. Dreams are a virtual reality, and if we could tap into that ability to "see" we wouldn't need to duplicate it.

be careful what you wish for! i'm sure you know about lucid dreaming, and sometimes i can be right in between so i briefly completely see what i'm dreaming without completely giving up 'consciousness' - it's cool! but soon as i notice, it stops.
i like your idea of having dream elements and letting them interact, kind of like some novelists who say they create characters and a setting and then they watch what happens!

One of the things about dreams that interests me most is, let's say I dream of my sister, but she is a a small woman with black hair (my sisters are all fair-haired), yet I know from her ENERGY that it is she.
I think that relates very well to virtual worlds, where we get a feel for one another, and are attracted, repelled, or neutral ... because of the energies people are emanating, even when they do not say a word, or appear in other shapes.
